Large reality-capture projects rarely have one uniform accuracy requirement. Mobile SLAM is efficient for covering buildings, corridors, roads and complex sites, but selected façades, structural elements or control areas may require the greater local accuracy of fixed-position scanning. Traditionally, that means moving between separate mobile and terrestrial systems and reconciling their datasets afterward.

The FJD Trion T1 combines both workflows in one modular LiDAR scanner. Use Mobile Mode to move through the site and establish broad spatial coverage, then place the same scanner on a tripod when critical areas require denser, fixed-position capture.

Mobile Mode provides up to 120 m scanning range and relative accuracy of ≤1 cm. Terrestrial Mode provides 4 mm relative accuracy at 10 m and 8 mm at 30 m, with a scanning range of up to 60 m. Mobile and terrestrial data can be processed independently or brought together when a project requires both site-wide context and higher-accuracy local detail.

Integrated LiDAR, RTK and imaging systems reduce field setup, while handheld, tripod, vehicle-mounted and airborne configurations allow the scanner to adapt as site conditions change.

Key Features

  • Hybrid mobile and terrestrial scanning: Use one scanner for efficient SLAM capture and fixed-position scanning instead of deploying separate systems for overall coverage and critical detail.

  • 640,000 points per second: Captures dense spatial data across mobile and terrestrial workflows.

  • Up to 120 m mobile scanning range: Supports broader coverage in buildings, infrastructure corridors, industrial sites and outdoor environments.

  • Millimetre-level terrestrial accuracy: Rated at 4 mm relative accuracy at 10 m and 8 mm at 30 m for areas that require closer measurement and inspection.

  • Fast tripod stations: Select scan densities ranging from approximately 30 seconds to two minutes per station while maintaining the stated accuracy rating.

  • Integrated RTK: Supports georeferenced field capture with horizontal RTK accuracy of 8 mm + 1 ppm RMS and vertical accuracy of 15 mm + 1 ppm RMS.

  • Multiple capture configurations: Supports handheld, tripod, vehicle-mounted and airborne operation.

  • Real-time coverage review: View the colourised point cloud in 2D or 3D during capture to identify potential gaps before leaving the site.

  • Scan resumption: Return to a previously captured area and continue the project by matching the existing scan area.

  • Multi-station spatial continuity: Multi-sensor SLAM records the relationship between terrestrial stations to assist alignment during processing.

  • Three 48 MP imaging cameras: Captures 360° panoramic imagery and colour information for terrestrial scanning.

  • Up to 3.5 hours of battery operation: Dual battery handles support extended field use.

  • Expandable storage: Includes 512 GB of storage with support for expansion up to 1 TB.

  • Field-ready construction: A 1.65 kg main unit, IP54 rating and -20°C to 50°C operating range support deployment across varied site conditions.

Applications

  • Building and façade documentation

  • Scan-to-BIM and as-built capture

  • Construction progress documentation

  • Industrial plants and equipment areas

  • Infrastructure corridors, bridges and tunnels

  • Highway and roadway documentation

  • Mining and quarry mapping

  • Stockpile and volume documentation

  • Surveying and site mapping

  • Forestry and arboriculture

  • Topographic and terrain capture

  • Vehicle-mounted corridor scanning

  • Air-to-ground reality capture

  • Localized measurement of critical structures

The T1 is particularly relevant where the project needs fast overall capture but selected areas cannot rely solely on mobile SLAM accuracy.

LiDAR Performance & Field Capture

Mobile Mode for Site-Wide Coverage

Mobile Mode allows the operator to walk through complex environments while the T1 captures up to 640,000 points per second. The scanner provides a 360° × 270° LiDAR field of view and a specified mobile range of 0.5 to 120 m.

CreatBot specifies the following range performance according to target reflectivity:

Target Reflectivity LiDAR Range
10% reflectivity 80 m
80% reflectivity 120 m

Mobile relative accuracy is rated at ≤1 cm. This mode is suited to establishing overall site geometry, documenting long or complex environments and covering areas where repeatedly setting up a tripod would slow fieldwork.

Terrestrial Mode for Critical Detail

When an area requires greater local accuracy, the scanner can be mounted on a tripod and operated from fixed positions.

Terrestrial Performance Specification
Relative accuracy at 10 m 4 mm
Relative accuracy at 30 m 8 mm
Scanning range 0.5–60 m
Fastest stated scan per station 30 seconds
Higher-density scan time Up to 2 minutes

This mode is useful for façades, structural interfaces, equipment areas and other locations where mobile capture alone may not provide the required local detail.

Connecting Multiple Stations

As the operator moves between tripod positions, the T1 uses multi-sensor SLAM to record the spatial relationship between stations. This assists alignment in post-processing and reduces the manual work normally associated with disconnected station scans.

Scan Resumption and Large Sites

A single continuous mobile scanning session can run for up to one hour. For larger projects, the operator can stop and later resume by matching a previously scanned area. The software uses that overlapping area to combine the capture without requiring the operator to stitch the sections manually.

The one-hour continuous-session specification is separate from the stated 3.5-hour battery runtime. Available field time can therefore support multiple sessions, subject to storage, site conditions and the selected operating configuration.

Handheld, Vehicle and Airborne Capture

The same scanner can be reconfigured for:

  • Handheld capture in buildings and complex spaces

  • Tripod capture at fixed stations

  • Vehicle-mounted scanning for roads and long corridors

  • Airborne capture for broader site coverage

Mounts and deployment accessories must be selected for the intended configuration.

Positioning, Imaging & Data Workflow

Integrated GNSS and RTK

The T1 incorporates GNSS support for:

  • GPS

  • GLONASS

  • Galileo

  • BeiDou

  • QZSS

The integrated RTK system is specified at:

RTK Performance Accuracy
Horizontal 8 mm + 1 ppm RMS
Vertical 15 mm + 1 ppm RMS

PPK mode is also supported.

RTK positioning accuracy and point-cloud relative accuracy describe different aspects of the dataset. RTK connects the project to real-world coordinates, while the relative-accuracy specifications describe local spatial consistency in the mobile and terrestrial scans.

Mobile Imaging

Mobile scanning uses:

  • One 1080p RGB vision camera

  • Two 48 MP imaging cameras

The imaging system supports real-time colourised point-cloud review, helping the operator recognize missed areas while still onsite.

Terrestrial Imaging

Terrestrial Mode activates three 48 MP cameras to capture 360° panoramic imagery and colour information at each station. This adds visual context to the point cloud for inspection, documentation and project review.

FJD Trion Model
